‘Cutting Ties’ are a four piece Emo-punk band formed in Brighton, UK in 2018 by lead vocalist/guitarist Alessandro Cogolo, bassist Jack Smith and drummer Ben Turner with guitarist Sam Allen completing the final line up in early 2019.

We caught up with Alessandro to find out about their new single and plans for the future.

WHAT’S NEW WITH YOU GUYS?

We just dropped a new single “When Am I Going to Sleep?” which is a b-side to something we hope to drop some time soon.

HAVE YOU WRITTEN A LOT OF NEW MATERIAL?

We have been writing a lot during lockdown. Have like 4 songs in a different tuning from standard tuning. Almost all of them now have clear choruses and loads of harmonies. So yeah. Fun stuff.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS?

In the near future we are planning to drop a music video for the new single and maybe do a gig in July. Fingers crossed all goes well.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN LISTENING TO DURING LOCKDOWN?

I’ve been recently listening to the new Holding Absence record. Great. All the new stuff by Cruel Tie, highly anticipating the new LP. And some random heavy and softer stuff by bands like The Neighbourhood and Gojira.

ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE RETURN OF LIVE GIGS?

Oh we are looking forward for gigs. I personally live and breath by going to gigs and playing them. There some cool once lined up by Monakis, Wife Swap USA, Making Friends, Beach Riot and others. So hell yeah. But of course we in CUTTING TIES are super looking forward to putting the mega rock shows.
